Beech Tree-backed Obsequio expands with Environtec acquisition

Obsequio Group, backed by Beech Tree Private Equity, has acquired UKAS-accredited asbestos compliance firm Environtec Ltd, strengthening its position in fire safety, security, and water hygiene services.

Environtec, based in Chelmsford, operates across England, Scotland, and Wales with a team of 215. The deal, which gives Obsequio its first Scottish office, aligns with the group’s buy-and-build strategy. Existing shareholders Paul Shaw, Dan McGuire, and Ricci Price will remain involved, while Matthew Dennis is stepping down.

M&A director Philip Sarthou called the acquisition a key step in expanding Obsequio’s compliance capabilities and customer reach. Chairman Simon Cashmore reaffirmed plans to grow through further acquisitions.

The deal was supported by European investment firm Kartesia, in partnership with Beech Tree. Kartesia’s investment director, Daire Creighan, emphasized that Environtec will drive Obsequio’s future growth in asbestos compliance and water hygiene.

Beech Tree director Ben Cartwright confirmed more acquisitions are in the pipeline, positioning Obsequio as a leading compliance services provider in the UK.
