Assicurazioni Generali created a new private equity fund management company, Generali Lion River Capital Partners SGR, through its Dutch subsidiary Lion River.

Based in Milan’s Generali Tower, the newly formed firm will manage closed-end alternative investment funds, including delegated mandates for Italian and foreign SICAFs and OICRs.
A secondary office is located in Trieste. The vehicle is capitalised with €1m, fully subscribed by Lion River.

The governance structure closely reflects Generali’s internal leadership, with Salvatore Colotti appointed as chairman. The board also includes senior executives from within the group, such as Andrea Bonomi, Francesco Cignolo, Fabrizio Riccardi, Ileana Bolcato, Bruno Sollazzo, and legal advisor Paolo Montironi.

Lion River already manages around €20bn in private equity assets, and the launch of Generali Lion River Capital Partners SGR signals an expansion of its fund management capabilities on behalf of both proprietary and third-party investors.
