Rothschild & Co appointed Nicolas Lanel to support the expansion of its GP Solutions platform across Europe, as the firm strengthens its position in the rapidly growing GP-led secondaries market.
Lanel, a veteran of the investment banking sector with over 30 years of experience, will focus on originating and executing GP-led deals, including continuation vehicles.
His appointment comes as continuation funds increasingly become a mainstream exit route for private equity managers.
Lanel has played a key role in shaping the GP-led secondaries landscape in Europe, having built and led secondary advisory businesses at both UBS and Evercore. Most recently, he was the founder of Flow Advisors. Earlier in his career, he held M&A roles at Paribas and Deutsche Bank in Toronto, London, and New York.
Commenting on his new role, Lanel noted the importance of integrating sector expertise with secondary transaction capabilities to deliver tailored solutions to clients: “Continuation funds have rapidly become a mainstream exit route for PE assets. It is key to deliver a dual sector and secondary expertise to clients in an integrated manner.”
