General Atlantic’s Anton Levy joins Warner Bros. Discovery board amid investor shake-up
The move comes after Sessa Capital, which holds a roughly 1% stake in WBD, urged the company to accelerate its restructuring efforts and refresh its board with proven value creators. In response, WBD launched a comprehensive board search process, resulting in Levy’s appointment.
Board chair Samuel Di Piazza acknowledged Sessa’s involvement, stating the board appreciated the “helpful input” from Sessa’s managing member John Petry during the process. Di Piazza also reaffirmed WBD’s December commitment to enhancing its board with industry experts focused on value creation.
Levy joins a growing group of new directors, including Anthony Noto and Joey Levin, both appointed earlier this year. The board changes aim to support WBD’s strategy as it continues to navigate a shifting media landscape.
CEO David Zaslav said the company is “making meaningful progress” toward driving profitable growth, adding that Levy’s experience will bring “valuable perspectives” in guiding WBD through the next phase of transformation.
