Edmond de Rothschild Real Estate Investment Management (REIM) has appointed Klaus Schmitz as Chief Investment Officer for Europe, as the firm accelerates its strategy to scale its real estate platform across key markets.

Schmitz, who will also serve as Executive Chairman of the UK business, will assume the roles effective 1 September 2025. He will be based in London and join the executive committee, reporting directly to co-CEOs Pierre Jacquot and Arnaud Andrieu.

In his new capacity, Schmitz will oversee Edmond de Rothschild REIM’s pan-European investment strategy, lead its investment committee, and deepen ties with capital partners across logistics, residential, mixed-use, and operational real estate.

“Klaus’s deep investment knowledge, cross-border experience, and entrepreneurial approach will help take our European platform to the next level,” said Jacquot.

Prior to this appointment, Schmitz was Managing Director at Ares Management, where he focused on the DACH region. His background includes senior roles at Starwood Capital Group, N.M. Rothschild & Sons, and PIMCO. He also served as Executive Chairman and board member at Swiss-listed Peach Property Group.

This hire signals Edmond de Rothschild REIM’s ambition to further strengthen its position in Europe’s real estate private equity landscape by drawing on Schmitz’s extensive track record in real estate, special situations, and distressed asset strategies.
