TPG finalises $1.1bn acquisition of Sabre’s hospitality unit
The deal, announced in April and now finalised, sees the unit rebranded as Hospitality Solutions. It will operate as a standalone company through TPG Capital, the firm’s US and European private equity platform.
Kurt Ekert, President and CEO of Sabre, said the transaction was “an important step in Sabre’s ongoing transformation,” adding that the proceeds would help the company pay down debt, reduce net leverage, and refocus on sustainable growth.
Sabre expects to use the $960m in net proceeds to streamline operations and reinforce its core travel technology business.
Sabre Hospitality has expanded steadily since its 2005 acquisition of SynXis, later bolstered by the additions of guest engagement platform Nuvola in 2022 and hotel e-commerce provider Techsembly in 2023.
TPG has appointed Teresa Mackintosh as CEO of Hospitality Solutions. Mackintosh previously served as CEO and executive chair of Trintech, and earlier held senior roles at Wolters Kluwer and Thomson Reuters.
The transaction adds to TPG’s portfolio of high-growth software and technology businesses, and reinforces the firm’s investment focus on vertical SaaS platforms.
