CVC leads $220m round in Airalo, backing world’s first eSIM unicorn at $1bn+ valuation
The funding round, joined by existing investors Peak XV and Antler Elevate, makes Airalo the first unicorn in the eSIM space. CVC contributed $185m through its Asia Fund VI.
Airalo serves more than 20 million users in over 200 countries, offering borderless connectivity through a digital-first, scalable model. The fresh capital will accelerate Airalo’s global growth, expand its product offering, and enhance user experience across its consumer and enterprise platforms.
“This funding is a major milestone, not just for Airalo, but for the future of global connectivity,” said Ahmet Bahadir Ozdemir, CEO and co-founder of Airalo. “We’re building the infrastructure for the next generation of international mobile connectivity.”
CVC’s Managing Partner, Siddharth Patel, added: “We are thrilled to partner with Airalo — the clear category leader in travel eSIMs and a pioneer in redefining how travelers connect worldwide.”
The new investment will fund a range of product innovations, including unlimited data plans, enhanced user support, and tailored packages for both leisure and business travellers. Airalo will also scale its “Airalo for Business” platform, enabling companies to manage eSIM usage across teams and reduce roaming costs by up to 90%.
With this backing, Airalo plans to reinforce its status as a key enabler of global mobile infrastructure, offering white-label solutions, API integrations, and reseller tools to partners worldwide.
