Ares leads €100m secondaries investment in Venice airport buyout

The deal, agreed with Ardian, has already secured regulatory approval and is expected to complete in the coming months. Ardian’s infrastructure platform is committing €600m of equity for its stake, while Ares’ secondaries business is providing capital to a Finint-led vehicle for the remainder.
Venice Marco Polo Airport is the primary international gateway to north-eastern Italy and is expected to play a central role in traffic flows linked to the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics. Milione also controls Treviso Antonio Canova Airport.
Ares said its secondaries platform manages $38.4bn across private equity, private credit, real estate, and infrastructure. The investment highlights how secondaries capital is increasingly being deployed into core infrastructure assets alongside traditional buyout and infrastructure funds.
