AllianzGI Raises €1bn for Second Infrastructure Equity Fund

Allianz Global Investors has raised €1bn at the final close of its infrastructure private equity fund’s second vintage.

The Allianz Global Diversified Infrastructure Equity Fund II raised €550m after its first close in May. It has now final-closed after receiving €1bn of capital commitments.

The fund is managed by the private equity subsidiary Allianz Capital Partners and focuses on themes such as the energy transition, digital transformation, sustainable mobility and the circular economy. Around 60% of its funds have already been committed to investments.

An AllianzGI spokesperson said the strategy invests alongside the parent company ‘through primary fund commitments, secondary market transactions and co-investments’.

The fund is managed by the infrastructure equity fund and co-investment team of Allianz Capital Partners.

The previous vintage was launched in 2020 and raised €1bn from institutional investors by the end of 2020. The second vintage was launched in Q4 2021, with a third planned for next year.

In addition to private equity, AllianzGI also announced the first close of a private debt strategy this year. The Allianz Global Diversified Private Debt fund raised €3.3 bn by the end of April, hugely exceeding its original target of €1.5 bn. The asset manager has also announced a successor vintage for this strategy.

AllianzGI manages assets of around €90bn in the private markets sector.
