Apollo partners with 8VC to launch multibillion-dollar hybrid capital platform for growth tech firms
The partnership will leverage Apollo’s hybrid business, a fast-growing division that provides structured and asset-backed capital solutions blending private credit and equity, to support capital-intensive firms across sectors such as aerospace, energy, life sciences, logistics, and advanced manufacturing.
Matt Nord, Co-Head of Equity and Head of Hybrid at Apollo, said the collaboration addresses a funding gap in the market. “There is a growing need for creative, non-dilutive capital to support companies driving industrial innovation,” he said, adding that Apollo’s hybrid approach unlocks “large pools of capital for transformative businesses.”
The initiative will back companies developing large-scale digital and physical infrastructure, an area often underserved by traditional growth equity and venture investors. Apollo’s hybrid platform has raised $7bn this year and now oversees around $75bn in assets, making it the firm’s fastest-growing business line.
The new platform expands Apollo’s strategy to bridge institutional capital with private market innovation, following earlier partnerships such as its tie-up with Cadma Capital, which will also participate in the venture.
Joe Lonsdale, founder of 8VC and co-creator of Palantir Technologies and Addepar, said the partnership reflects a shared vision “ to provide world-class founders the financial solutions they need to build enduring companies in sectors that matter deeply to economic resilience, national strength and global progress.”
Apollo, which manages $840bn in assets, has increasingly positioned itself as a key alternative lender for private market growth, while 8VC brings decades of expertise in early-stage innovation and frontier technology.
The collaboration underscores the growing convergence between private equity, venture capital, and structured credit as institutional investors seek scalable ways to fund the technologies underpinning global industrial change.
