Transportation research firm TRL secured a strategic investment from London-based private equity firm Blandford Capital to accelerate its growth and expand its reach worldwide. 

While financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed, TRL described the investment as “significant” and instrumental in scaling its operations.

Paul Campion, CEO of TRL, welcomed the partnership, highlighting its potential to enhance the company’s ability to support key clients, including the UK’s Department for Transport, National Highways, and private sector companies. “This investment will allow us to increase our support for clients pioneering sustainable and inclusive transport solutions,” Campion stated.

Blandford Capital, known for its sector-agnostic investment approach, sees great potential in TRL’s research and technology capabilities. “TRL’s expertise in research, technology, and safety is undeniable, and we are excited to contribute to shaping the future of transport alongside their talented team,” said David Morris, founding partner at Blandford Capital.

With this backing, TRL aims to advance cleaner, safer, and more efficient transport solutions through cutting-edge research, technology innovation, and real-world testing. The firm will leverage its expertise to influence policy, support innovation, and help build a more sustainable and inclusive mobility landscape.

Although Blandford does not specialize in transportation, the firm has a history of supporting companies through transformative growth strategies using equity and debt solutions. Its investment in TRL marks another move in the private equity sector’s increasing interest in technology-driven infrastructure and mobility solutions.
