Global buyout giant EQT is nearing a deal to acquire Envirotainer AB from rival Cinven in a deal that values the medical-freight provider at about $3bn including debt, according to people familiar with the matter, the latest bet on the growing demand for logistics services.
The deal is expected to be announced in the coming days, assuming talks don’t fall apart, the people said. London-based Cinven acquired the business in 2018 in a deal valued at more than €1bn, equivalent to about $1.1bn.
The swedish company, which is currently owned by Cinven, has played a major role in transporting Covid-19 vaccines. For instance, the company’s containers were handling Covid-19 vaccines sent as air freight to Hong Kong.
