Fondo Gomma Plastica awards €712m mandate to Anima in portfolio reshuffle

Fondo Gomma Plastica has awarded €712m in mandates to Anima as part of a strategic overhaul of its €2bn multi-asset portfolio, consolidating its previous allocations from AXA IM and Groupama under a single manager.

The Italian pension fund, which serves the country’s rubber and plastics sector, granted Anima a new €320m mandate and reaffirmed existing ones. These include €142m in the ‘Dinamico’ sub-fund and €250m in a total-return strategy, bringing the total to €712m under Anima’s management.

The reallocation is part of a broader strategy to streamline asset management, guided by consultancy Prometeia. It also includes extended fixed income mandates with Eurizon and Generali Investments.

Fondo Gomma Plastica maintains active private markets exposure, with Neuberger Berman managing its private equity investments and StepStone overseeing private debt allocations.

As part of its domestic investment push, the fund has joined an €82m initiative to back Italian SMEs. With a €30m commitment, it is the largest contributor among participating pension schemes, including Foncer, Pegaso, and Previmoda.
