Lonsdale Capital Partners, a UK private equity group, is in advanced talks to acquire a stake in Horseware Ireland, a highly successful equestrian products company.
It is understood that the investment will accelerate the growth of the company, which makes horse blankets, equipment and riding wear.
Founded in 1985 by entrepreneur Tom McGuinness, Horseware posted sales of €42 million in 2018, and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation of more than €4 million. It is known globally for its Rambo and Amigo ranges.
Horseware employs more than 110 people in Dundalk where its departments for sales, R&D and marketing as well as its financial headquarters are based. The company has manufacturing facilities in China and Cambodia, where it employs 400 staff.
Lonsdale Capital is a lower mid-market private equity house focussed on all sectors. They take both majority and minority positions in companies in the UK and Europe, looking to invest between £5 and £15 million in any one transaction.
