Insight-backed Veeam to acquire Securiti AI in $1.7bn deal to boost data security for AI

Veeam Software, the enterprise data protection company owned by Insight Partners, has agreed to acquire Securiti AI for approximately $1.73bn in cash and stock as it expands into securing data used in artificial intelligence applications, Bloomberg reports.

The transaction is expected to close in early December and contribute to profits in the second half of 2026, according to Veeam CEO Anand Eswaran. The deal will combine Veeam’s data backup and recovery expertise with Securiti’s AI-driven data security tools to offer clients enhanced protection against the growing risks of AI misuse.

Veeam plans to retain Securiti’s flagship Data Command Center platform, which helps companies identify, classify, and control access to sensitive data, while developing new integrated products across the two firms’ portfolios.

Securiti CEO Rehan Jalil will join Veeam as President of Security and AI after the acquisition. “If you want to apply enterprise AI, it is not possible without data security,” Jalil said. “You cannot if you cannot guarantee that the enterprise proprietary data is going to be safe with AI agents.”

Morgan Stanley advised Securiti AI, while JPMorgan Chase financed the transaction.

Headquartered in San Jose, California, Securiti employs roughly 600 people and counts General Catalyst, Mayfield, Capital One Ventures, and Citi Ventures among its investors. The company was last valued at $575m in 2023 after raising $75m in fresh funding.

Insight Partners acquired Veeam in 2020 for around $5bn and has since overseen rapid expansion. The company was valued at $15bn last December following a $2bn secondary sale led by TPG, Temasek, and Neuberger Berman Capital Solutions.

The acquisition underscores the growing convergence between private equity-backed enterprise software and AI-focused cybersecurity, as global investors pour capital into technologies that underpin the safe deployment of artificial intelligence.
