J.P. Morgan closes $1.44bn flagship private equity fund above target

The close exceeded the vehicle’s original $1.25bn fundraising target.
The firm said the outcome reflects sustained investor appetite for its global small and mid-market private equity strategy. The fund will pursue buyout and early-stage venture capital opportunities through a mix of primary commitments, secondaries, and co-investments.
Commenting on the close, Ashmi Mehrotra, Global Co-Head of J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s Private Equity Group, said the firm was “pleased to announce the close of PEG Global Private Equity XII, reflecting strong investor demand for our flagship small and mid-market strategy”. She added that the team’s “longstanding experience and general partner network allows us to continue to source compelling opportunities with strong growth potential across diverse sectors and geographies”.
The new fund follows Global Private Equity XI, which closed at $1.28bn in 2024. It forms part of a broader platform that focuses on providing investors with diversified access to private equity managers globally.
J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s Private Equity Group manages $36bn and has more than four decades of investment experience. The team works with a proprietary network of more than 250 private equity sponsors and recently closed its second dedicated co-investment fund above target at $1bn.
