L Catterton backs Good Culture as cottage cheese boom gathers pace

Good Culture’s sales have increased nearly fourfold over the past three years, according to the deal announcement, as the cottage cheese category grew by almost 60% over the same period. The Austin, Texas-based company also produces sour cream and cream cheese.
L Catterton is acquiring a controlling stake, while existing investor Manna Tree will reinvest in the business. Financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval, with closing expected in the first quarter of 2026.
Andrew Taub, managing partner of L Catterton’s flagship fund, said: “Good Culture has built an extraordinary niche in cultured dairy, transforming a once-dormant corner and making cottage cheese into one of the most exciting and versatile items in food.”
Under L Catterton’s ownership, Good Culture plans to expand production capacity, distribution, and product innovation. L Catterton, which is backed by LVMH, manages about $37bn of assets and has invested across consumer categories ranging from fitness to nutrition.
The deal underlines private equity’s continued appetite for scaled consumer brands benefiting from changing dietary preferences and premiumisation trends.
