Madrid’s Swiftair lands Antin as new majority backer to expand European routes

Antin Infrastructure Partners has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Swiftair Group, the Madrid-based express airfreight operator, to accelerate its expansion across Europe and beyond.

Founder and CEO Salvador Moreno will remain a significant minority shareholder and continue to lead the company.

Swiftair, established in 1996, operates a fleet of 71 aircraft across 77 routes in more than 45 countries. Its long-standing clients include DHL, FedEx, UPS, Royal Mail, and La Poste. In 2024, the company generated €342m in net revenue and employed over 1,350 staff. It also owns a hangar at Madrid Barajas Airport and runs 38 maintenance centres supporting its operations.

“This is a true honour for us to partner with Salvador Moreno, an exceptional entrepreneur who has made a leader of Swiftair, and to help the company reach the next level,” said Francisco Cabeza and Simon Soder, Partner and Senior Partner at Antin. “Airfreight is an essential part of supply chains for time-sensitive cargo, supported by long-term tailwinds.”

Moreno welcomed the partnership, stating: “With Antin’s support, we will be able to accelerate our strategy, notably continuing to optimise and invest in our fleet, and further consolidate our market leadership, both organically and through new acquisitions.”

The deal, which represents the seventh investment from Antin’s €2.2bn Mid Cap Fund I, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025.
