Nadeem ILAHI heads the IMF’s Regional Office for Central, Eastern and Southeastern European (CESEE) region, based in Warsaw. He has also been IMF’s Mission Chief for Southeast European and Central Asian countries, in both economic surveillance and lending capacities. His analytical work focuses on economic growth spillovers, trade and global value chains, the economic effects of emigration (cited in the Economist and FT), and financial sector development. Before joining the IMF, he held faculty positions at McGill University (Canada) and Lahore University of Management Sciences (Pakistan). He holds BA and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley and Davis.
