PAI Partners-backed Compleat Food Group acquires Freshpak in latest platform expansion
Freshpak, which recorded £93m in revenue in 2024 and employs 500 staff at its Barnsley facility, is the UK’s top supplier of private-label chilled food-to-go snacks and a leading egg processor. The acquisition strengthens The Compleat Food Group’s capabilities in high-growth categories, including protein-rich foods and food-to-go, and supports further innovation across retail and foodservice.
This deal follows a string of acquisitions under PAI’s ownership, including SK Foods, Zorba Foods, Harvey & Brockless, and The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co. The combined group now operates across 17 sites, with annual revenues exceeding £1.3bn and a workforce of more than 6,000.
Nick Field, CEO of The Compleat Food Group, said the acquisition reinforces the group’s category leadership and opens up new growth opportunities. Freshpak CEO Toby Brinsmead described the deal as an exciting new chapter for the business.
The transaction underscores PAI Partners’ ongoing strategy to consolidate the UK chilled food market through The Compleat Food Group platform.
