Partners Group hires industry veteran Tarak Mehta to co-lead Goods & Products private equity vertical

Partners Group has appointed Tarak Mehta as Partner and Co-Head of its Private Equity Goods & Products vertical, underscoring its strategy of combining capital with deep operational expertise.

Mehta, based at the firm’s headquarters in Switzerland, will co-lead the vertical alongside Partner Manas Tandon. The unit spans Europe, the US, and Asia-Pacific and focuses on scaling mid-market businesses through organic and acquisition-led growth.

With more than 25 years of industrial leadership, Mehta most recently served as CEO of US-based Timken Company and previously held senior roles at Swiss industrial giant ABB, where he was a long-standing executive committee member.

Wolf Scheider, Head of Private Equity at Partners Group, said: “Tarak brings a wealth of experience managing large, complex industrial businesses across different continents, which will be extremely valuable as we look to build market-leading companies with strong operational frameworks and growth strategies.”

Mehta added: “Partners Group has an entrepreneurial culture that seeks to drive fundamental value creation across portfolio companies. This approach, along with its focus on close collaboration with management teams, is a key differentiating factor for the firm.”

The Goods & Products vertical has recently backed MPM Products, Velvet Care, and SureWerx, reflecting Partners Group’s industrial approach to private markets investing. The firm’s private equity business manages $83bn as part of its wider $174bn platform.
