Financial News presents its second annual list of the top dealmakers, investors, advisers and business leaders in Europe’s private equity industry
Financial News’s second annual list of the 50 most influential people in European private equity is testament to the continued popularity of the sector, with several fundraising records having been reached this year – both for individual firms and for the market as a whole. There have also been some mega-deals over the last 12 months, notably the £6bn acquisition of Legoland owner Merlin Entertainments, which a few of this year’s list entrants are involved in.
However, the list also demonstrates that the industry needs to do more to diversify its top ranks, only five of the executives on the list are women.
The final 50 were selected for their leadership and firepower within their firm and the wider European market. Their track record, particularly over the last 12 months, was also considered, as was their ability to influence the regional market in the year ahead. All nominees had to be based in Europe. The list is not ranked.
