Private equity-backed leather group Rino Mastrotto has sold a 10% stake to luxury fashion house Prada, marking a strategic partnership in the high-end leather supply chain.
The deal, supported by Renaissance Partners, includes a cash investment by Prada and the transfer of two tanneries – Conceria Superior in Italy and Tannerie Limoges in France – into Rino Mastrotto’s portfolio. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Rino Mastrotto, controlled by private equity firm Renaissance Partners, is a key supplier of premium leather to the fashion, automotive, and interior design industries. The agreement allows Prada to secure greater control over an essential part of its production process, while supporting Rino Mastrotto’s consolidation in the luxury leather sector.
Prada Group Chairman Patrizio Bertelli said the partnership “allows our group to strengthen its control over a highly strategic phase of the production process.”
The transaction reinforces private equity’s growing role in enabling strategic vertical integration across the luxury goods supply chain.
