Hellas Verona, a Serie A football club, has been acquired by Presidio Investors, a private equity firm based in Texas.
The firm has purchased 100% of the club from its long-standing owner, Maurizio Setti. This acquisition makes Hellas Verona the ninth club in Serie A under North American ownership.
Italo Zanzi, the club’s incoming executive chairman and a former Roma executive, expressed his enthusiasm for the new chapter. “It is a profound honour to join Hellas Verona, a club that embodies the passion and heritage of the city of Verona,” he stated.
Hellas Verona has a storied history, highlighted by their remarkable 1985 Serie A title win under Osvaldo Bagnoli. The club now joins the growing trend of foreign-backed teams in Italy’s top division. This includes Genoa, which recently saw a change of ownership to Romanian businessman Dan Sucu, and Como, financed by the Indonesian Hartono brothers.
