Thoma Bravo explores Verint acquisition amid AI-driven shake-up in CRM market

Thoma Bravo is reportedly in advanced discussions to acquire customer relationship software company Verint, as the AI revolution accelerates disruption in the CRM sector, according to Bloomberg.

Shares in Verint surged 15% in after-hours trading following the report. The deal value has not been disclosed, and both parties have declined to comment. The company’s market capitalisation currently stands at $1.1bn after a 32% drop in its share price since the start of the year.

Verint, based in the US but originally spun out from Israel’s Comverse in the early 2000s, is led by long-time CEO and chairman Dan Bodner. The firm focuses on customer engagement solutions and competes directly with Israeli peer NICE. Both companies have felt pressure from emerging AI competitors, including Microsoft’s new AI-powered CRM tools.

Thoma Bravo, known for acquiring and restructuring software businesses, has a strong track record in Israeli tech. The firm previously acquired cybersecurity company Imperva for $2bn and later exited the investment at $3.6bn.

Verint’s business has undergone significant transformation in recent years. In 2021, it separated its cyber and surveillance unit into a standalone company, Cognyte, which now trades with a market value of approximately $700m.

A successful acquisition would reinforce Thoma Bravo’s push into enterprise software amid growing interest in AI-led CRM solutions. As deal talks progress, the potential transaction signals rising interest in established software platforms repositioning for the AI era.
